For pupils, computing is about understanding the digital world and becoming confident, creative and responsible users of technology.
At HPS, we aim to equip our pupils with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world. Through engaging, practical and purposeful learning, our children develop confidence, independence and resilience when using technology.
Sequenced and Progressive Learning
We follow a Computing scheme of learning which provides a structured and progressive curriculum from Early Years through to Year 6.
Our curriculum is organised into key areas:
Knowledge and skills are built on each year, allowing pupils to deepen their understanding and apply learning in new contexts.
Online Safety
Online Safety is embedded throughout our curriculum and revisited regularly to ensure pupils know how to keep themselves safe online. Children learn about protecting personal information, respectful online communication, Cyberbullying, managing screen time and understanding reliable and unreliable information
Building Digital Confidence
At HPS, we want pupils to leave primary school as confident users of technology who can think computationally, solve problems logically, communicate responsibly online and use technology safely and effectively. Computing supports learning across the wider curriculum and prepares our pupils for the next stage of their education and for the digital world beyond the classroom.
